This is going to be terrible. It doesn’t matter how hard Dollhouse tries, they are going to get massacred. Dollhouse skews to intelligent households and well-financed people. It also skews to women who came of age when Buffy was on air.
That’s a bad thing because of one thing: If Chins Could Kill, JAY LENO redrummed a whole network..
There was this show called Medium, starring that chick who killed it in True Romance. She kills it in this. It hasn’t dipped under 8 million viewers no matter what opens for it, and settles at around 10-11 million when it has any kind of opener … and that’s at 10pm.
Besides that, every one-off episode I’ve seen of Medium has proven it’s one of the most consistent, tonally smart and well acted/written shows on TV.
Southland is one of the best freshman shows on network TV, but they put it after the Thursday comedy night. Who the hell wanna watch NYPD Blue after 30 Rock?
They were both on NBC at 10. There is no more NBC at 10. Jay Leno Nasty Nate’d them til they gave him that sweetness and ruined themselves in the meantime.
Southland was moved to Friday at 9pm.
Medium was cancelled, It killed every show that went up against it, and got the axe because Jay is just that nice. CBS owned it, so CBS owned NBC and 10 minutes after it got cancelled, it was already in their fall lineup. Between Ghost Whisperer and Numbers … both those shows kill everything else on Friday and fit Medium PERFECTLY.
Southland could survive, because it’s a very different show … but women won’t pick Dollhouse over Medium.
Dollhouse is over! … we just got an extra year to figure out by how much. I don’t know how I’m the only one who thought that immediately. I need to stop looking at TV headlines. Patricia, you are not worth a Joss show gettin suicided.
